NEW RIVER WRITERS GROUP allows you to gather in a friendly environment with like-minded folk to offer each other supportive comments and inspiration covering all forms of writing... poetry, short stories, plays, novels, all are welcome.
In the summertime we run an active social calendar of picnics and outings on Sunday afternoons in and around London.
Our regular meetings are on THURSDAY evenings throughout the year, but there are exceptions so please send an email to check. The email address is at the bottom of the page.
We meet between 19:30 and 22:00 at
The Wenlock Arms
26 Wenlock Road
Islington
LONDON N1 7TA
It's half way between ANGEL and OLD STREET, with Angel being by a shade the nearest Tube station. From Angel, turn left then left again at the traffic lights down CITY ROAD. After about 15 minutes there's a Texaco petrol station and MacDonalds. Turn left and behind MacDonalds turn right on to MICAWBER STREET. Very soon turn left turn on to WENLOCK ROAD and the pub will appear on your right.
Micawber Street and the first 50 yards of Wenlock Road look a bit run down, but at the end of Wenlock Road is a very expansive new development. The pub itself is very friendly and sells a wide range of real ales.
It's an easy place to get to by bus. The 43, 214 and 205 go along City Road. You should get off just after the MacDonalds if travelling east, or just before it if travelling west.
We go upstairs tp our meeting room at 19.30 and aim to finish at 22.00, giving everybody plenty of time to get home.
The group has been running for more than ten years now and its membership ranges from experienced writers with several books behind them to complete beginners...
Bring along any work in progress you might have and give it an airing. We particularly welcome writers from around the world who are passing through London.
